Alberta Corporate Tax - Refund Interest Rate Reduction

Effective 12:01 a.m. February 10, 2010, the quarterly rates used to calculate Alberta Corporate Tax Act refund interest will be reduced by 50 per cent.  The reduced rates apply to assessments and reassessments issued after that time for all taxation years.  For more information, please see the Special Notice and related Questions and Answers.  Also, the Prescribed Interest Rates have been updated accordingly.

Pension Document Updates

  • The Year’s Maximum Pensionable Earnings (YMPE) for 2010 is $47,200 and the prescribed interest rate for determining the Life Income Fund withdrawal factors is 3.84%. Consequently, Table 1B and Table 4, as well as Accessing Pension Funds, Policy Bulletin #11, and Policy Bulletin #24 have been updated accordingly to reflect the LIF withdrawal amounts, as well as the small amount unlocking thresholds, for 2010.
