ALBERTA
FUEL TAX ACT INFORMATION CIRCULAR - MAIL STRIKE CONTINGENCY PLAN
(Effective April 1, 2007)
NOTE: This Information Circular is intended to explain
legislation and provide specific information. Every effort has been
made to ensure the contents are accurate. However, if a discrepancy
should occur in interpretation between this Information Circular
and governing legislation, the legislation takes precedence.
This Information Circular sets out the procedures to follow
in the event of a strike or other disruption of postal service.
- Special measures have been put in place to minimize inconvenience
to recipients in the event of a disruption of postal services.
These measures come into effect when the Minister of Service Alberta
declares that an emergency mail situation exists.
- When these measures are in effect, recipients may take returns,
payments, and correspondence to the nearest Alberta Provincial
Government Building, ATB Financial, or any other provincial business
location designated by Service Alberta as a delivery point. Couriers
will pick up the mail from the delivery points and deliver it
to the addressees.
- During the postal disruption, Tax and Revenue Administration
will send cheques and other materials to designated delivery points
for pick-up by recipients.
- As an alternative to the above arrangements, recipients may,
at their own expense, use private sector couriers to pick up or
deliver materials.
